How do leagues work?
Every week, you compete against other learners to climb the leaderboard. Earn XP, finish near the top, and you'll advance to the next league; fall near the bottom and you'll drop. Leagues reset every Sunday, so there's always a fresh start.
The six leagues
There are six leagues, each one more competitive than the last:
- Bronze (starting league)
- Silver
- Gold
- Red
- Onyx
- Diamond (top league)
How it works
When you earn your first XP of the week, you're placed into a leaderboard with other learners at the same league level. The number of learners in each leaderboard depends on the league, but is usually between 20 and 30. You compete only against that leaderboard for the rest of the week.
Studying flashcards, keeping your streak alive, and completing sessions all earn XP toward your weekly rank.
Promotion and demotion
At the end of each week, the top finishers move up to the next league and those near the bottom drop down. Bronze is the most welcoming — more learners get promoted there than in any other league. In Diamond, there's nowhere higher to go, so only the bottom of the leaderboard drops. If you don't earn any XP during the week, you won't be placed in a leaderboard and your league won't change.
Rewards
The top 3 finishers in every league earn gems at the end of the week. The higher the league, the bigger the reward. Rewards are added to your account automatically.
Frequently asked questions
When does the week reset? Leagues reset every Sunday. A new leaderboard starts automatically the next week you're active.
Why am I in a different leaderboard than my friend? Everyone is placed into a separate leaderboard with other learners at the same league level. Even if you and a friend are in the same league, you'll likely be in different leaderboards.
What if I miss a week? If you don't earn any XP, you won't be placed in a leaderboard and your league won't change. You'll jump back in the next week you're active.
I just got promoted. What's next? You'll start next week in the next league up with a fresh leaderboard. It'll be more competitive, but the rewards are better too.
What happens if I finish last in Diamond? You'll drop back down to Onyx for the following week. Diamond is tough. Only the most consistent learners hold their spot.
